Flagship software synthesiser for the ROLI Seaboard — deep polyphonic expression with a multi-timbral architecture, built in C++/JUCE.
Overview
A hybrid engine combining wavetable, sample, granular, and virtual-analog synthesis, built for expressive five-dimensional MPE control: Strike, Glide, Slide, Press, and Lift.
What I worked on
Over four years I've taken Equator 2 well beyond a conventional plugin. The same engine now powers two very different products: a real-time automotive sound engine that turns live vehicle telemetry (speed, steering, braking, CAN bus data) into synthesised sound for a major car brand's EV installation, and the sound core behind ROLI Airwave, the company's gesture-controlled instrument. Alongside that, I've driven the core synth forward — an expanded modulation system, OSC-based gesture and macro control, and ongoing DSP performance work (SIMD optimisation for granular synthesis component)
